Anti-Corruption Agency detains 1 for abuse of office

Officers of the Anti-Corruption Agency of the State Security Service (SSS) have detained the deputy head of Chugureti district for abuse of office, reports the State Security Service.

The State Security Service reports that an e-tender for rehabilitation work of a residential house located in Chugureti district worth 126,752 GEL was announced on April 30 and two companies expressed their wish to participate in it.

Deputy head of Chugureti district, who was the responsible person for the tender commission, summoned a representative of one of the companies and stated that he wanted a specific company to win the tender, and due to this, the company representative ought to refuse participation in the tender. 

The deputy head of Chugureti district told the representative of the company that if he still participated in the tender, he would face problems in the future.

 In exchange the deputy head of Chugureti district suggested adjusting the terms of tenders to be announced in the future in favor of the representative of the company.

Notwithstanding the pressure applied by the deputy head of the district, the LTD participated in the tender in full compliance with the provisions of the legislation and won the tender with the lowest price. After this the public servant stated that he would create problems for the mentioned company. Later after the threat, the company faced artificial problems and the contract was terminated”, reads an official statement of the SSS.

As a result of unlawful action carried out by the public servant, the company was unable to continue the rehabilitation works of the residential building, which has violated the lawful interests of the residents and the state.
