Georgian patrol police will monitor people in self-isolation and under quarantine in Georgia to further prevent the spread of Covid-19 virus, head of the National Disease Control Centre (NCDC) Amiran Gamkrelidze said earlier today.

He stated that as of now 178 people are under quarantine in Georgia and 1,108 others in self-isolation as they have visited countries with numerous cases of the respiratory infection.

The active involvement of the patrol police in monitoring is important for the safety of people in isolation or under quarantine and for public safety,” Gamkrelidze said, whose son also got infected by his colleague who visited Italy.

Gamkrelidze stated that the NCDC has found an importer of disinfectants who is ready to hand out products to the Georgian church free of charge.

The Georgian Patriarchate has been informed about and we are waiting for a response from them,” Gamkrelidze said.

As of now Georgia, has 15 confirmed cases of coronavirus, with only one infected individual in a severe condition.
