Georgian law enforcers have detained a mother and her daughter for fraud in Tbilisi today have detained a mother and her daughter for fraud in Tbilisi today.
The detainees, identified only as M.K. and I.Z. introduced themselves to 30 individuals as representatives of the Ministry of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories and promised assistance in obtaining socially vulnerable and refugee statuses.
M.K. and I.Z. also promised to enrol them in a state program in order to receive new flats.
M.K. and I.Z. fraudulently received up to $10,000.
The detainees also received 500 GEL from each individual in exchange for their furniture placement in non-existent flats.
The crime is punishable from six to nine years of imprisonment.
