Aerial drones crash in two Georgian villages, investigation launched

Two unmanned aerial drones crashed in the villages of Udabno and Kutchatani of Kakheti region of Georgia at 18:35 and 18:45 pm yesterday, announces the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia.

An investigation into the incident has already been launched and law enforcement officers as well as forensic experts have been mobilised to the sites. 

The ministry says nobody has been hurt as a result of the incident.

Resident of the village Kutchatani Zezva Mukbaniani published a video and photos on his Facebook page, writing that a shell crashed into the back of his home, destroying his grapevines.

There is 15 km distance between Udabno and Georgia-Azerbaijan border and the the distance between Kutchatani and the border is 30 km, while the distance between these two villages Udabno and Kutchatani is 173 km.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia has not clarified to whom the aerial drones belong and what was the reason for the crash. However, there is speculation circulating on the internet that the incident might be related to the ongoing conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan over Karabakh.
