The Georgian government places great importance on transforming the country into a transport and logistics hub, Georgian PM Giorgi Gakharia stated at a meeting with World Bank Regional Director Sebastian Molineus.
Gakharia spoke about the support of the World Bank, and noted that with this support Georgian infrastructure has significantly improved, and that numerous important projects in the field of energy, agriculture and regional and municipal development have been carried out.
The meeting focused on the importance of continuing the economic reforms, which will further improve the investment environment in Georgia.
Deep reforms in economic management and governance have earned Georgia a reputation of ‘star reformer.’ To bolster the private sector, Georgia has introduced rules and regulations that make it easier to do business, and the country’s international ratings on governance and the investment climate have soared”, reads the overview about Georgia by the World Bank.
Gakharia and Molineus expressed their readiness to deepen cooperation in 2019-2022.
The World Bank’s projects in Georgia for 2019 include: Georgia I2Q - Innovation, Inclusion and Quality ($102.7 million), Energy Supply Reliability and Financial Recovery ($70.7 million), Energy Supply Reliability and Financial Recovery Guarantee ($50 million).
