Georgia will be one of the four countries to host FIBA Eurobasket group matches in 2021.
The FIBA Europe board announced this decision today in Munich, Germany.
Georgian President Salome Zurabishvili delivered a speech before the board and presented a video clip about Georgia and said Georgia is ready to host the FIBA EUROPE 2021 games.
The board heard presentations from seven countries in total.
Georgian Basketball Federation Vice President Vladimir Boisa and Captain of the Georgian national basketball team Tornike Shengelia also delivered speeches during the event.
Estonia, Slovenia and Hungary were also candidates to host the tournament.
Eurobasket 2021 will be held on 17-29 August, 2021.
Prague (Czech Republic), Tbilisi (Georgia), Milan (Italy) and Cologne (Germany) will host the first phase groups while the final round of the tournament will be held in the German capital city of Berlin.
FIBA is the world governing body for basketball, formed by 213 national federations across the world. The International Olympic Committee recognises it as the sole competent authority in basketball.
