Man detained for setting fire to 9 shops in Batumi

Police have detained an individual who set fire to nine vending facilities in the city of Batumi in western Georgia in August 2018.

The man admitted to the crime and stated that he also started a fire in an elevator of a residential buildings.

The police have identified the man only as B.B., born in 1997.

Police stated that the individual deliberately set the fires in August 2018 and burnt nine shops. The damage amounted to 1 million GEL.

The suspect has been sent to pre-trial detention.
