Georgia is free, open, transparent, democratic country aimed at improving the lives of its people, Head of the NATO Laison Office in Georgia William Lahew said at an event summarising the work of his office.
Praising Georgia’s support for NATO in Afghanistan, Lehew said the Georgian soldiers contribute to strengthening the defense capacity of the alliance.

This country strives for freedom and full membership of the Euro-Atlantic family… You are standing on a right, progressive, historic path despite any tension”, Lehew said referring to the Russian occupation of the Georgian regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali (South Ossetia).
Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili thanked Lahew for supporting Georgia’s Euro-Atlantic integration and contributing to the country’s development.

Kvirikahsvili said, since establishment, the office has been tireless in its efforts to deepen NATO-Georgia relations, providing the Georgian Government with invaluable advice and assistance on the path toward the Alliance.
Today there is more NATO in Georgia and more Georgia in NATO, and this is largely thanks to the dedication and vigorous efforts of all of you – our friends and partners - involved in this challenging but rewarding process and journey”, Kvirikashvili said.
With 885 troops, Georgia is currently the largest, non-NATO contributor to NATO Resolute Support Mission.
